Appearance
Timelines
You can see and add various timelines for each movie. Each timeline consists of various timeline parameters (see Timeline Parameters ) and some general information, that help to exactly define, which film version is being analyzed. As some films exist in several different (edited) versions and thus also differ in content, it is important to know, which version is used for each timeline. Especially the information on the films length and the streaming platform/ medium is important for that.
You can only modify your own timelines and no timelines of other people. Check out the following documentation to better understand, what is meant by the single analytical parameters and how they should be filled out.
Adding a timeline
To add a timeline, choose the movie you want to add it to. Now you see a menu, similar to the one within the movie list. Within the option "Administration" you find a button named "Add new entry". When you click on the button, a pop-up will open, where you can add all meta informations about your timeline. Of course you can also change the values in there later. When you are ready, click on the button "save".
Now you created a new timeline and can edit it.
How to add, change and delete timeline parameters is explained in the Timeline Parameters chapter.
Changing meta informations about a timeline
To change the meta information of your timeline, choose your timeline, go to the next step ("show timeline with values") and use the blue button with the pencil on the right.
Deleting a timeline
To delete your timeline, choose it to go to the next step ("show timeline with values") and use the blue button with the trash can on the right.
Author
Here you find the name of the user, who created this timeline. It's filled in automatically by the software.
Length
The length of the film version specified by the medium or streaming service is to be entered here in order to be able to determine more precisely which film version it is.
Source/ Streaming platform
Here it should be noted on which medium the film is examined or if it is analyzed with the help of a streaming service. This information helps to determine exactly which version of the film is available.
Description short
This is a short description about the content of the timeline. In the spirit of a headline, please indicate here your focus of analysis that your timeline contains. For a detailed description of the content of your timeline or additional information, please use the comment field.
Comment
This field is intended to provide a more detailed description of the content of a timeline. So if you want to add any further information about your research, that goes beyond the timeline possibilities, feel free to write it in here. There is no limitation about the length of your text.
DANGER
Do not write any illegal stuff here including posting illegal links.
Otherwise we might sue you!
Completed vs. Not Completed
Since it is hardly possible (e.g. due to the superimposition of different pieces of music within a film alone) to present all music-theoretical investigations for every film within a single timeline, 'completed' does not mean that all pieces of music within a film have actually been examined down to the smallest detail and noted on the timeline in the form of analytical parameters. Instead, this field offers the user the opportunity to mark their own timeline as 'completed' within the context of their own research. Thus, as long as a user is still working on a timeline and has not yet finished noting their research results on it, the timeline is considered 'uncompleted'.
In 'TimelineParameters' you find a short description of each parameter on the timeline, including a definition and some examples to understand, how to use it.
Error status: Dirty
vs. Clean
As FMADB offers several evaluation possibilities on the timelines, it is necessary to check the timelines for errors to enable reliable evaluations. You should do that sometimes after entering new elements within your timeline by pressing the button "validate and check for errors". Faulty elements are then displayed in red. When you click on a red element, a specific error message is displayed in the edit pop-up so that you know what you need to correct.
Adding, Editing and Deleting Timeline Parameters
To add an element to your timeline, click in the row of the bar you want to add it to on the timeline.
To edit single timeline elements, click on the concrete element.
In the edit view you can also delete a timeline element by clicking on the blue button with the trash can symbol.
